Summer blue

Summer blue was the sky,
Those beautiful days that went with summer.
That deep endless color,
that with no clouds
the sky rose.

Summer blue reminds me of that summer,
those hot afternoons,
with blue colors.

That shinning sun
with out remorse,
that made your day
 go longer.

The blue sky,
the blue ocean,
the blue shorts,
the blue ice cream,
the blue
 in everything.

The melody of
the ocean,
that goes on and on
singing of what
 A relaxing day it was.

People on towels
 on the ground
complaining
of how hot it was.

Those crazy children
 in motorcycles,
that with no fear,
they passed.

Those burns that you get,
but with out no fear
of what could happen,
you went outside again.

Those short night,
so tired of doing nothing,
the blue sky will slowly disappear,
into darkness.

Oh blue summer,
I can’t believe,
 how much I miss you.

Where I am From

I am from nickelodeon,

from the red roses
that decorate my house
every time my mom will come back form a trip.

I am from Coronado
every weekend and
loving the beach.
From Janet, Costa, and Allan
who my heart will always belong to.

I am from Cuba and Greece,
the place where my parent are from.

I am from eat all your food and
don’t talk back to me.

I am from believing in God
and all his decisions and having faith
that He would listen
to my prayers and do what´s best for me.

I am from Panama,

from spicy food and desserts.

I am from the story of Tio Pancho,
how he got bitten by a shark in his belly
and has the teeth as a necklace.

I am from the successful grandfather
That only studied until second grade,
The one  who used to help others
even before helping himself.

I am from grandmother,

the one that lives few blocks away,
The one that tells me to not walk without shoes
Because  I could get worms through my feet.

I am from all those beautiful memories
that are kept in albums
and picture frames
that I will never forget.

Trayvon Martin

On late February,  a seventeen year-old boy was shot and killed  by a neighbor , because he was being “suspicious” while walking with a hoodie on . The Sanford Police Department didn’t make any charges  .  Now every individual against it will go to the "Million Hoodie March" in Union Square from 6:00pm to 9:00pm local time to express solidarity with Trayvon Martin's family, and push for the shooter's arrest.

Prejudice leads to injustice all the time.  Like what happened to Martin, he was judged by the color of his skin. This is kind of similar to the phrase “ don’t judge a book for his cover.”  I kind of make a connection with this phrase, because he just judged him for being in a hoodie and being black. He obviously doesn’t accept it was for those reasons, but I really think it was. This judgment leads to a horrible situation. Prejudice lead to injustice in this case. This man: George Zimmerman, did a horrible thing to do and he has not paid for it- that is even worse.

Individuals have the commitment to protect the innocent ; because  this could happen to anyone.  Like I said ,he was judged, and that is  a big problem this days. Individuals need to protect him and try to make justice, because until this day the Sanford Police Department hasn’t arrest this horrible man, or made any charges towards him.

In this case people fear what they don’t know, the missing holes of why this man killed a young innocent teenager. People like to guide themselves by the million stereotypes that exist against blacks. Martin was in this exact position and Zimmerman was just one of the ignorant that judged him for his skin color and shot him. I believe that this man should be arrested, he took away a life, and now he has to be punished. We have to make justice.

Gender stereotypes can influence people’s behavior because if we go back to this case we can assume that Zimmerman  did what he did because he knew about all the stereo types, he knew how people judge, and he did the same thing himself. I honestly don’t thing he would  had of act the same way if it was a white boy. He didn´t even knew this boy, and didn´t know what he was doing but decided to kill him with a gun as self defense; He didn’t think about his family, his friends , or all the life that was waiting for him…

Chapter 8- Scout´s point of view

Mrs. Radley died this winter. Atticus said that it was imminent she was going to die. The causes were natural; that was my disappointment. We were all so confused.  We didn’t apprehend anything.

Then it started snowing. We had never seen snow—until now.  Snow in Maycomb was really bizarre .Maycomb was always sweltering. It had not snowed since 1885.  We couldn’t assimilate what Mr. Avery said to us: because we were bad children, weather changed. We felt really guilty. We were really amazed with the snow, so we conspire to try to make a snowman. We went to Miss Maudies and we asked her for snow.  She said that the snow was killing all her plant so she didn’t mind ,so we in a meticulous way took it away.

We did our snowman, we said it looked a lot like Mr. Avery; because the other night he was taking a wiwi. We even put a stick bellow. Atticus was really proud, but then he realized it was Mr. Avery. He just laughed and told us to put something else, so it didn’t look as Mr. Avery, because it was wrong to do that. We took Miss Maudies hat  and put It on his head.

At night, the weather  got really cold—I mean frizzing! Suddenly, I was sleeping, and Atticus came and woke me up. I knew something was wrong. Then he told me: Miss Maudie´s house was on fire. We went an sat outside, while he helped in whatever he could. Suddenly, Mr. Avery was hanging from the window. We were all so worried because he is too old to do does kind of things.  Mr. Avery was able to get down, and they were able to stingiest the fire. We thought Miss Maudie was sad. She went and stayed with Miss Stephanie.

Finally , we got home. while  we were drinking hot coco , we  talked of the horrible calamity that had happened. Atticus then   asked were did the blanket on top of me came from. My mind was blank.  I looked at Jem. ¨Jem d-. ¨ I said. I looked at Jem and he was totally confused to; he couldn’t figured out neither. Then Jem said that it was Boo Radley; That I was to busy looking at the fire and I didn´t notice. I was amazed.  Atticus said to us not to let this inspire us to further glory, and we didn´t. The day after, we talked to Miss Maudie and we were happy that she didn’t mind that her house was burned. She said that she never liked that house; we felt relief.

The Problem We All Live With

The painting,  The Problem We All Live With. Was commemorated by Norman Rockwell on November 14 1960.  In this painting they were commemorating  the day that Ruby Bridges went to her first day of school in a school of white people. There was a lot of controversy and people didn´t wanting Ruby to be there but she finally made it through with courage and a lot of security.

When I first saw the painting I thought something totally different. I thought that maybe   she was and important person followed by bodyguards to protect her.  Now, that I know the story I can understand that it was a memorable time in history when a black girl went to a school for whites for the first time.

Now that I understood what It was, I could see a lot of new details like:  the graffiti drew on the wall behind her there is KKK that means Kukus Klan, and Nigger. When she was walking they threw things at her ,so in the wall you can see a tomato.

The artist intention is to always remember this memorable moment and you to discover the little details  that he drew.

In this painting I see everything perfect.  When I see it I can totally picture it on my mind.

OWNER

We tried to find his owner, and we finally did. When we talked to her, she told us that she only had the dog for an hour before the accident.  That they had just gave it to her.  We asked her if she wanted to still keep the dog  and she told us that she was going to think about it, so we are waiting for her call.

LUCKY

Monday night, everything fine.  We were just coming home from shopping when soddenly my dad decides to turn off the radio and pull-down the window . We heard something. We looked everywhere until we saw it was a dog been crash by a car. We all started screaming and I started crying .Since we all are animal lovers, as quick as my dad could he pulled the car over and grabbed the little dog an handed it to me.  He was all-nervous but as soon as I hugged him in my arms he became calm like if he knew we were going to save him . He began bleeding through his mouth but I cleaned it up and hugged him tight in my arms.  Finally ,we found a vet and  we  told him the story and they began to check him out. They told us he had a ship ,so that made us happy, but soon they told us that the ship  was empty . They told us that everything was all right that he only had some fractures so they were going to have him over the night. After thinking how lucky he was by so many things we name him lucky. After he gets better we are going to take him home with us and make him part of the family.

SANDIA

today we are going to have lunch with a friend of ours.  We are going to a really good place name "Sandia" where  they serve Mexican food. I like Mexican food  a lot  because is really spicy and that’s how I like my food.

TIRED

We haven’t done   anything since I got to los angels.  We have gone to some places but basically we are really tired so we have rest allot.

NEW YEAR

Wow its new year! This year went so fast that I cant believe it! To celebrate it, we will have dinner at a restaurant. Today we tried to ski but it was too windy so we had to go because it was really dangerous.

THE SNOW

Almost getting use to because my body does not hurter like the first couple days. Yesterday was the worse night! The fire alarm started ringing and we had to abecacuate at 4am! Obviously today we were super tired and we didn’t ski as much but we had fun.

THE SNOW

Really fun. Couple of falls, but I was all right. it has not snowed in a week so the mountain is icy.  After a day of snow boarding I feel more than tired.  We were going to have dinner but I had to stay because  I got allergies all of the sudden.

Christmas

Christmas before was the most exiting holiday of the year. But since I discovered the truth about Santa, it has got less exiting year by year. Don’t get me wrong I love Jesus and I am happy that he was born, but the magic I use to feel it’s gone.

We celebrate Christmas the 24 by doing a dinner with the family. The last 3years we have been flying to the snow on the 25. We get to open our gifts at 12am of the 24, so the 25 a little later we are ready to go have fun.  The snow trip for us is a Christmas gift for everybody, because we all get to have allot  of fun, and we are all great full for having the opportunity to do it every year.
